HOW DO I MAINTAIN MY NEW LIGHT?
Make sure power is turned off to all fixtures. If it is a portable lamp, make sure that the lamp is unplugged. Allow the fixture or lamp to cool down completely before cleaning or relamping.
If the finish is a polished metal one, dust with a soft dry cloth. If there is something on the finish that will not come off with a dry cloth, dampen the cloth slightly. Never use any chemical cleaners as they can damage the finish.
If the finish is a hand painted finish, the finish must be handled carefully. Use only a soft, dry cloth. Do not use any chemical cleaners as they can damage the finish.
If the fixture or lamp has removable glass, remove the glass before applying any liquid. Use a mild soapy water or glass cleaner and wipe dry. Do not put glass in dishwasher! Many of these glass have hand applied finishes and must be treated with care. Do not use abrasives of any kind.
Outdoor fixtures can be cleaned with mild soapy water or plain water. A glass cleaner may be used on the glass. Using a slight amount of liquid car polish can protect the finish, but it can darken painted finishes.
